May 13, 2021 @ 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM EST
ONLINE VIA ZOOM & DISCORD
FREE FOR MEMBERS & NON-MEMBERS*
Dear Members & Artists Educators Community,
On Thursday, May 13th, PAONE held its second artist educator-specific event, Approaches to Lesson Planning. The event featured a panel discussion where board members Breanne Ritchie, Cameron Grant, Reynold Thomas, Tim Walker shared insights into how they structure workshops to meet the needs of their intended learners. Attendees were then invited to connect and continue the conversation in topic-based voice channels on Discord.
The panel discussion centred around the questions:
What is your preparation process for a workshop? What are things you consider when developing a lesson plan?
How do you establish a safe space for your learners to play, explore and take risks in a workshop?
What are some effective or efficient ways to wrap up a workshop? What are your strategies to invite learners to keep learning outside your workshop environment?
In Discord, attendees had focused, open flow discussions around lesson planning with considerations to:
Youth Learners vs Adult Learners
Virtual vs In-Person Learning
Strategies to Engage learners
Pre-recorded vs. Live workshops
Thank you for attending and engaging with us in this conversation!
